The Rainbow Chorus led the city’s IDAHOBIT 2023 Community Vigil on Wednesday 17 May in Jubilee Square, Brighton.

We were LOUD, PROUD and VISIBLE!

Our musical director Aneesa Chaudry hosted the event, opening with a speech about the importance of being an active ally and calling out the toxic culture of transphobia in the UK right now.

The choir sang four songs, You Will Be Found,  and Bridge Over Troubled Water to close the event, followed by a huge loud, vibrant minute of noise. We made a LOT of noise!

There were speeches from Hazel from RC+; Merry the Poet; Gina and ex-chair Katy from Rainbow Chorus; and newly elected councillor David McGregor.

Local charity Lunch Positive provided  light refreshments on the square, supported by Brighton & Hove City Council’s LGBTQ Workers Forum.

It was all arranged at very short notice but we had a diverse range of people from the community present including members of our LGBTQ+ choirs. Thanks to everyone for your contribution and support.
